Hi, I’m Phoenix — a Mandarin teacher from China with an M.A. in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, professional Chinese-language teaching certification, 500+ hours of teaching experience, and an IELTS score of 7.5.
I have worked with learners from more than 20 countries, from complete beginners to professionals who need Mandarin for daily life, travel, study, customer communication, and the workplace.
My goal is simple: to help you turn the Chinese you have learned into Chinese you can actually use.
I do not believe in giving every student the same lesson plan. Before regular lessons begin, I will learn about your current level, goals, interests, available study time, and the situations in which you most want to use Mandarin. Based on this, I will create a practical and realistic learning plan for you.
My lessons are highly communication-focused. We may practise through real-life situations such as ordering food, travelling, shopping, meeting new people, handling customer enquiries, explaining procedures, or communicating with colleagues. I use images, short videos, listening materials, guided conversations, role plays, and task-based activities to make new language easier to understand and remember.
You will also have plenty of time to speak. I will correct important mistakes clearly, but I will not interrupt every sentence. I want you to feel comfortable experimenting with the language, making mistakes, receiving useful feedback, and trying again.
For professional learners, I can also design lessons around workplace needs, including customer communication, service situations, practical business interaction, and job-specific speaking tasks.
English support is available whenever needed, especially for beginners or when a difficult grammar point or cultural difference needs a clear explanation.
After class, I can provide key vocabulary, useful expressions, correction notes, and review suggestions so that you know exactly what to work on next.
